Curriculum

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program (DP) curriculum consists of the DP core and six subject groups.

The DP core is comprised of three major components: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) and the Extended Essay (EE).

  • TOK develops a coherent approach to learning that unifies the academic disciplines. In this course on critical thinking, students inquire into the nature of knowing and deepen their understanding of knowledge as a human construction.
  • CAS complements a challenging academic program in a holistic way, providing opportunities for self-determination, collaboration, accomplishment and enjoyment. It involves students in a range of activities alongside their academic studies throughout the DP.
  • The EE requires students to engage in independent research through an in-depth study of a question relating to one of the DP subjects being studied.

The six subject groups are as follows:

  • Studies in language and literature
  • Language acquisition
  • Individuals and societies
  • Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • The arts

In the Diploma Program, however, students learn more than just these six individual subjects. They learn the context of those subjects, which gives them a broader understanding of knowledge, a broader view of life, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. The DP is geared to give students the confidence and preparation they need to move onto the next step in life, which is often university.

At Endeavor International School, we offer rigorous language acquisition courses in accordance with the IB Diploma Program. Our Spanish courses uncover various themes including identities, experiences, human ingenuity, social organization, and sharing the planet, that help students grasp the language and understand different cultures. This shapes our students into becoming better communicators and active global citizens who care about others.

As our world becomes increasingly more interconnected, it becomes even more paramount that we understand different languages and cultures. Our foreign language program provides adolescents with an improved worldview and the opportunities they need to progress during this era of globalization.
